Project Description
A mobile-first redesign of Nigeria’s FIRS TaxPro Max platform, built to simplify tax filing for everyday users.
Focused on accessibility, smart features, and a seamless UI/UX tailored to real Nigerian taxpayers.
Timeline
Completed over 5 weeks, this project moved from research and early explorations to final UI designs—while balancing multiple design commitments simultaneously.
Background
The FIRS TaxPro Max platform needed a mobile-first solution to make tax filing simpler and more accessible for everyday Nigerians. This redesign leverages user-centered design and smart mobile features like biometric login, offline drafts, and reminders to ease the tax process. The goal: reduce friction, improve trust, and help users file taxes confidently—anytime, anywhere.
Process
This project followed a user-centered design process—from research and persona development to wireframing, prototyping, and testing.
/Each step was guided by Design Thinking to ensure the final solution was simple, intuitive, and truly useful to Nigerian taxpayers.
Research & Planning
Conducted user research and competitive analysis to uncover challenges faced by Nigerian taxpayers using the current TaxPro Max platform. Defined key user personas and pain points, and mapped out core features like biometric login, offline draft saving, and simplified onboarding—grounded in real user needs.
Design & Prototyping
Designed a clean, intuitive mobile interface focused on accessibility and ease of use. Created wireframes and high-fidelity mockups for major user flows including login, onboarding, and tax filing.
Prototypes were tested and refined through iterative feedback to ensure clarity, simplicity, and trustworthiness.
Development & Implementation
Outlined a development roadmap inspired by agile methodology, prioritizing essential features such as offline access, smart filing reminders, and secure biometric authentication. Emphasized scalability and localization to cater to Nigeria’s diverse user base, laying a foundation for a smoother, smarter tax filing experience.
Result
The resulting mobile-first redesign of the FIRS TaxPro Max platform delivers a seamless and user-friendly experience, enabling individuals and small businesses to file taxes effortlessly.
With features like biometric login, offline draft saving, smart reminders, and simplified onboarding, the app makes tax compliance easier, faster, and more accessible for all Nigerians.
Redesigning the FIRS TaxPro Max platform for mobile wasn’t just about better visuals—it was about creating a smoother, more accessible experience for Nigerians across different walks of life. By applying user-centered design principles, I was able to address real frustrations and propose smart, intuitive solutions that make tax filing feel less daunting and more human.
In addition to the app redesign, I also created a series of infographics (numbering around 40+) showcasing the organization’s staffing structure. These visuals were designed to clearly communicate FIRS’s internal hierarchy and departments, helping users and internal stakeholders better understand how the service is structured and who handles what.
